Dorothy L Sayers statue

View statue of Witham's most famous resident - Dorothy L Sayers

One of Witham’s claims to fame in the world at large is that the famous writer of detective fiction, playwright and theologian Dorothy L Sayers lived here from the 1930’s until her death in 1957.

There is a bronze statue of her, strategically placed opposite her own house in Witham (indicated with a blue plaque) in a small square across the road from the library (which was a cinema in her day).
