Bucket & Spade trains are back!

3 August 2021

The Bucket and Spade train returned on the 27th July and was a great success!

We are back!  Tuesday the 27th July saw the return of our first event train since lockdown.  The bucket and spade train although reduced in numbers was a great success.

Everyone got a bucket and spade, a bag full of goodies and several competitions as we travelled to Walton on the Naze.

CJ the Octopus joined us to meet the train at Walton and the Children loved it.  CJ is part of the Octopus Trail in Tendring. Click this link for more information: Home – Octopus Ahoy!

We have two more bucket and spade trains which have both sold out.  Next year we hope to be able to offer more places, so watch this space.

Travellers left some very good reviews for our event, read them below:

“The activity pack was brilliant. It was entertaining for the children and the adults. So much information in there. The magician was brilliant – my son was in disbelief!”

“A lovely start to our day at the beach. Hopefully we will be back next year. Thank you.”

“It was great, excellent value and we will book again next year.”

“Kids and adults had a fab time, fantastic value for money. Thank you!!”

A quote from the columnist Vicki Pipe who travelled on one of the Bucket and Spade Trains in August this year writing in the Modern Railways October edition 2021:

Vicki said, “I heard a phrase not often uttered on the platform of a railway station “That’s the best train I’ve ever been on”  Although, if like me you were lucky enough to be a passenger on board one of the Essex and South Suffolk Community Rail Partnership’s Bucket and Spade trains, you will perhaps not be too surprised by the revelation.”
