New Franchise Operator announced
Abellio Greater Anglia Limited has been chosen as the new operator for the Greater Anglia Franchise which is currently operated by National Express East Anglia. Abellio Greater Anglia Ltd are due to start in February 2012 and the duration of the contract is 29 months.
Under the terms of the franchise, Abellio has committed to make it easier for passengers to buy tickets, to provide an additional 600 car-parking spaces and to expand cycle storage.
In addition the majority of the train fleet will be deep-cleaned and some will be refurbished and more carriages will be fitted with CCTV.
The Essex and South Suffolk Community Rail Partnership look forward to working with Abellio in providing greater customer provision and customer engagement on the Great Anglia Line.
