The route explores the lower reaches of the River Stour on both the Essex and Suffolk sides of the river and includes a visit to Flatford, where John Constable's father was the miller and the area where the painter portrayed the surrounding countryside in his paintings. |

Harwich & Dovercourt Winter Ale Festival |
| Kingsway Hall, Dovercourt.December 6,7 & 8th. 11am to 11pm. This year�s festival will revolve around the theme of the 40th anniversary of the Marine Broadcasting Offences Act which outlawed pirate radio, Harwich being at the very heart of the pirate radio movement, which flourished off the east coast during the 1960s and 1970s. Branch Chairman, Richard Oxborrow, says �This year�s festival will not only be a great occasion for lovers of real ale but will also be a focal point for pirate radio enthusiasts who will appreciate the opportunity to swap stories and memories over a decent pint. I am sure that our commemorative festival glass will become a collectors item.� Rail passengers should disembark at Dovercourt station. The venue is in the centre of town a short walk up Kingsway. The last train will depart Dovercourt station at 23.07 each night. |
