Braintree

Braintree Railway Station was originally Braintree and Bocking Railway Station, with the branch line to Bishops Stortford (via Dunmow), which closed in 1952, and the line to Witham, which remains to this day.  The platforms were initiailly two but now one single platform, the station a teminus.

Located on the Flitch Line, the station is one of two in Braintree (the other being Braintree Freeport).  Centrally located within the town, trains of up to 12 carriages will transport people directly to London in little over an hour.  Originally, the line ran via Witham to Maldon.  During the beeching cuts, the line to Maldon East closed but Braintree remained open.
