South Woodham Ferrers

The town is situated east of Fenn Creek and near where it meets the River Crouch. South Woodham Ferrers is considered to be an affluent commuter town. The station was opened in 1889 to serve the small village of Woodham Ferrers which lies about a mile to the north of South Woodham Ferrers. Development of the modern town of South Woodham Ferrers began in the 1960’s. Rooftop horizons mimic wharves, sail lofts and farm cottages.

Marsh Farm Country Park is a working farm where children can get close to farm animals and play safely in adventure play areas. The farm includes a visitors centre, gift shop and indoor lunch area. The country park also boasts some excellent coastal walks.

Tropical Wings Zoo has butterfly, animal and bird collections. There is also a gift shop and cafe.

South Woodham Ferrers is also home to the Crouch Vale Brewery established in 1981 they have won CAMRA’s supreme champion beer of Britain in 2005 and 2006.
